Experience, knowledge, understanding and awareness are key ingredients to a really good Alzheimer's care home. Our doors at SouthTowne Living Center opened over 21 years ago. SouthTowne was the first and only secure Alzheimer's/Dementia facility in Eugene, Oregon.
Since 1991, we've pioneered many of today's current philosophies such as the Homelike Environment, Aging in Place, and treating our residents like our friends and family. The validation of seeing our ideas become increasingly commonplace in other settings and recognized by the Alzheimer's Association is gratifying. Our property layout is beneficial to Alzhemer's/Dementia residents. With an enclosed property, meaning all rooms are interior with smaller hallways which are circular, it reduces the amount of confusion a resident would experience trying to find their way to the dining area, room, common areas, etc. Our interiors are warm and friendly, with activities abound for resident participation. Our staff-to-resident ratio is one of the highest you'll find in any Alzheimer's/Dementia care property. Being enclosed means staff is seconds away from each resident.
